Dear Readers;
This is my final post at this blog. I've decided to end my contract with Experience so a younger student who is actually searching for a job right now can come in and write in my place. It has been a good three semesters and a summer and hopefully a few of you have found my writings to be beneficial during your job search. I'd like to close with a few thoughts about the job hunt and maybe some encouragement.
First and foremost never give up. Your first job will not come easily and in all likelihood it will not come from where you expect it to. But if you are faced with two jobs of similar pay, take the one that forces you to get uncomfortable and challenge your world views, you won't regret it. Spend some time at a company before you actually accept a job, even if it is just to job shadow someone in your department before you really ink the deal. Very few people get their dream job out of college, but don't stop trying. There is no substitute for experience, or at least a good resume'. Working your connections in college with be beneficial about a year or two out of school when you are ready to change jobs. Finally, don't even think about doing a video resume' and sending it to a potential employer.
Thank you for all of your time and best of luck with your job search.
